What's New in Bluetooth

Bluetooth™ technology is a cutting-edge open specification that enables short-range wireless connections between desktop and notebook computers, personal digital assistants, mobile phones, a keyboard and mouse, and a wireless Bluetooth headset. You can even print wirelessly to a Bluetooth printer.

Now your Mac and your Bluetooth enabled GSM/GPRS mobile phone make each other more useful. Using iSync, you can keep your phone updated with your contacts’ numbers without having to type in their information on a tiny phone keypad. Keep the information in the more manageable Address Book on you Mac instead. Using Bluetooth, Address Book also lets you send SMS messages over your mobile phone, and displays SMS messages from your phone — in a much larger window on your Mac. You can also use your Mac to respond to voice calls. You can use your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone as a modem to dial your wireless service provider, and then use your Mac to access the Internet at speeds up to 56 kilobits per second (Kbps).

Use a wireless Bluetooth headset for your computer's audio input and output. Some applications, including iChat AV, allow you to select the audio device from within the application (independently of the default audio input and output selected on the Sound pane of System Preferences). To use a Bluetooth headset with iChat AV, select the Bluetooth headset for audio input and output on the Video pane of iChat preferences.
